Bryan child advocacy nonprofit hosts 2nd annual Pickleball Palooza

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Whether you are a pickleball pro or you’re interested in getting started, you can compete while you raise money for a Bryan nonprofit focused on child advocacy.

Executive Director for Voices for Children, Amy Faulkner, said Tuesday on First News at Four that the second annual Pickleball Palooza tournament is to benefit children in the foster care system.

“Voices for Children is the local CASA Program for court-appointed special advocates. We train volunteers from the community to serve as advocates for kids in foster care. Our volunteers are working within the Child Protection System and with local attorneys advocating for and making recommendations to our judges,” Falkner explained.

In addition to the event, there will also be a raffle that day for a cruise with Royal Caribbean.

“The event is Saturday, October 12th. It’s going to be on the Texas A&M Campus at the Omar Smith Instructional Tennis Center, and so it’s going to be a really fun day of playing pickleball. Lots of pickleball play for anyone. Beginners, all the way up through advanced,” added Falkner.
