Brazos Valley storm tracker worked on the set of new movie
BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – KBTX weather partner Bob Pack brought his storm tracking experience to the movie set of “Twisters,” where actors Daisy Edgar Jones and Glenn Powell play competing storm chasers. The film opened Friday across the United States.
“One of the things that I did feel like I was helping them out with was talking to some of the actors, they were asking questions about the real world,” said Pack.
In the real world, Pack lives in Burleson County and goes out into the elements with his equipment.
“Multiple computers, all the radar stuff, data connections, so I can keep that video,” said Pack.
Pack says the actor strike happened in July during his 5th week on set, then they came back in December. He says he did more than 20 scenes, but it was condensed, and that you may get a glimpse of him in it depending on where you’re looking.
“It is going to put you through some emotions. You are going to go happy, sad, you are going to experience all of that in this film.”
Pack describes Texan Glenn Powell as a good ole boy.
“He will not walk away from you. He’s always got the time of day to pass with you,” said Pack.
He said Powell actually tossed the football with him on set. He also said director Lee Issac Chung was good and very professional. He says he went to cast events and they all treated him like an equal.
“Twisters” is the sequel to the 1996 movie “Twister.” It finds Kate Cooper lured back into storm chasing as a swarm of tornadoes threatens Oklahoma.
Pack says all of the scenes were shot in Oklahoma, and that one challenge was the weather, especially after rain because of the red dirt.
