Brazos Valley Regional Day School for the Deaf holds annual Spring Picnic

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Students and Families from the Brazos Valley Regional School for the Deaf got a special treat during their Spring Picnic Friday.

During the event at Sadie Thomas Park, students got the chance to play games, eat food and get their faces painted.

“A lot of times they may be the only kid that has to wear a hearing aid, so it’s a chance for them to see other kids,” said Interim Supervisor Melinda Gandrud.

Attendees were also given a live demonstration from the Bryan Fire Department and Aggieland Safari.

“They may feel different all year so here they can feel included and feel like everyone else,” said Gandrud.

Organizers say they hold events like these as many times as they can throughout the year.
