Brazos County trial begins for father accused of abusing twins, leading to death of 6-year-old

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – A jury trial is kicking off this week for a father accused of abusing his twin daughters which ultimately led to the death of 6-year-old Adrianna Battelle.

The twins’ father, Justin Hopper, is going in front of a jury for his role in the abuse. He is being charged with two counts of injury to a child with intent to cause bodily injury. This follows the trial of the stepmother of the twins, Jessica Bundren. Bundren was found guilty on charges similar to Hopper in November 2023. Bundren was sentenced to life in prison.

Adrianna was found dead in the couple’s home on Oct. 27, 2020. Court records show the couple used belts and paddles as a form of punishment for the children. During Bundren’s trial, the defense worked to blame Hopper for the abuse.

Bundren remains in TDCJ custody, she is currently not listed at a facility as the defense prepares for her to testify in Hopper’s trial.
