Brazos County Crime Stoppers names new executive director
BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – There’s a new leader at Brazos County Crimestoppers.
Rob Santarsiero is now serving as the executive director.
He joined News 3 at Six Monday to talk about his new role. He says the new position is an expansion from his former position.
“We’ve been in the community now for almost 43 years. I believe the position is really just an expansion of what we’ve been doing all along what I was doing when Chris Kirk retired,” Santarsiero said. “It’s the first time we’ve had a position like this.”
Santarsiero says he plans to bring training to the community about what the organization does.
“One of the things that we hope to do as an organization, as a nonprofit that’s dedicated to public safety, ‘Crime Stoppers’ is in our name so we want to bring some training to the community. We want to bring some of that experience and bring it to the community so that we can teach a little bit,” Santarsiero said.
He says Crime Stoppers plays a big role in fighting crime in our community.
“What it does basically is allow the community an anonymous means of providing information to law enforcement so that we can go after a specific crime or specific criminal or criminals, and we pay them for that,” Santarsiero said. “They are completely anonymous. It’s actually part of Texas government code how we handle that anonymity piece so whatever rumors there might be out there, know if you call into Crime Stoppers, your information is absolutely protected.”
