Brazos County Commissioners approve contractor for new medical examiner’s office

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Another step towards bringing a medical examiner’s office to Brazos County was taken this week.

On Tuesday commissioners approved J.T Vaughn Construction, LLC as the contractor for the project.

”We have a construction manager at risk we have an architect on board and they worked together to come up with a design,” said Brazos County judge Duane Peters.

County leaders have said the Medical Examiner’s office is long overdue and is a top priority for the area right now.

“It is a priority for the region and certainly for the county, and because of these American Rescue Plan Act funds we needed to get it done and under contract,” added Peters.

The building will go up along E 29th Street near Briarcrest in Bryan.

Judge Peters says more updates will be available in the coming months.
