Brazos County Citizen Sheriff’s Academy opens applications

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – If you want to learn more about law enforcement, the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office offers a Citizen Sheriff’s Academy.

The 8 to 10 week program gives participants a firsthand look at how the Sheriff’s Office operates.

Participants will learn about the latest trends and procedures in law enforcement as well as the duties and responsibilities of various divisions within the sheriff’s office.

They will take tours of various facilities and participate in hands-on workshops.

Topics include animal control, patrol and traffic stops, crime scene investigations, hostage negotiation, SWAT, and more.

Classes are Tuesdays beginning September 3 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Sheriff’s Office Training Room, located at 1835 Sandy Point Road.
