Brazos County 4-H members prep to host 53rd annual Cake Show & Auction

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – For its 53rd year in operation, the Brazos County 4-H Cake Show and Auction is scheduled to commence with a sweet treat next Monday.

Funds raised during the event will support the 4-H team through leadership labs, summer camps, awards programs, and alike.

4-H participants typically spend their year engaging in activities like learning about and how to care for animals, shooting sports, healthy living, and more.

“We have a great group of adult leaders here that support everyone and help the program,” said 4-H member, Makenna Johnson.

4-H members, adults, and family members will bake desserts to be separated into eight categories. Those categories consist of theme cakes, “good old fashioned eating,” clover kids division, and others.

“There will be a live auction during the event and all of that money goes toward the kids,” added Johnson.

Ahead of the auction, you may work up an appetite. J Cody’s will serve BBQ sandwiches from 5:30 to 7 p.m for $10.00 per plate.

The annual event commemorates the organization’s 53 years in action. You can join the fun on Monday, August 5 at the Brazos Center – 3232 Briarcrest Drive in Bryan.
