Beat the heat and visit the Bush Library this summer

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – If you’re looking to beat the heat and learn a little history, the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum has a lot of new things to see this summer.

There are currently two exhibits on display: “The Spirit of the Place” exhibit and “Serving America and President Bush: The U.S. Foreign Service” exhibit.

On exhibit now through February 2, 2025, in the Fidelity Gallery is a special exhibit commemorating the centennial of the founding of the U.S. Foreign Service—the career diplomats who advise the President on international affairs and advance our nation’s interests serving in 165 foreign countries. The exhibit tells the story of the origin, development, and contributions of the Foreign Service since 1924.

Celebrating the 100th anniversary of George H.W. Bush’s birth, “The Spirit of the Place” will be on exhibit in the Ansary Gallery of American History through March 30, 2025. From the initial conversations to place the Bush Library & Museum at Texas A&M University, to the full development of the Bush Presidential Center, visitors discover how President Bush and his ongoing legacy are intertwined with the Spirit of Aggieland.

The newest Marine One/4141 Locomotive Pavilion is free to the public. It also houses Daisy’s Cafe, which features a breakfast and lunch menu. Daisy’s menu was crafted by College Station Chef Tai Lee and his staff, and even features dishes from Barbara Bush’s cookbook.

Two movies remain in the 2024 Summer Film Series. The Little Mermaid will be showing on August 16 and Hook is the fourth and final movie on September 13. Games and free refreshments will begin at 7 p.m., and the movie will start just after sundown. You may bring blankets, lawn chairs and coolers, but no glass containers or pets.
