BCS Habitat for Humanity hosts Community Builders Breakfast
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – Community members gathered Wednesday, for the Habitat for Humanity Community Builders Breakfast.
The fundraising event gives attendees a chance to learn more about the work the organization does in the Brazos Valley.
“This major fundraiser kicks off the year for us, but it is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and it’s a great way to find out more about what we’re doing here,” said director of development for the BCS Habitat for Humanity Carl Orozco.
During the event, attendees got the chance to hear from recipients of Habitat for Humanity homes.
“Habitat homes are not free. They’re made affordable by a zero-interest mortgage, but they do have a mortgage and they do have to pay it back,” added Orozco.
The featured speaker and future home recipient at the breakfast heard about the initiative during a KBTX broadcast and was inspired to learn more.
News 3′s Karla Castillo served as the MC for the event.
