BCS Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. chapter announces change ahead of MLK Freedom March & Program

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – The Brazos Valley Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has changed the 28th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Freedom March & Program to a caravan.

It will start at Sadie Thomas Park at 10 a.m. and will conclude at Kemp Carver Elementary where the program will tentatively start at 11 a.m.

The change is due to Monday’s predicted inclement weather.

In the case of hazardous roads Monday, the event will be canceled. Updates can be found here.

The program will include entertainment, a keynote address from Rev. Donnie Nelson, Jr. and the announcement of the MLK Essay & Art Contest winners.

Community resources will also be available including voter registration and a No Woman Without Period Poverty Drive. Acceptable items to donate can be found below.

Ahead of Monday’s event, the 40th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Keeping The Dream Alive Celebration: Forward Forever, Backwards Never is happening Friday.

It’s from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Lincoln Recreation Center.
