At least 2 dead after school bus and concrete truck collide in Bastrop County
BASTROP COUNTY, Texas (KWTX) – First responders on Friday afternoon responded to a deadly crash involving a school bus and a concrete truck that left at least two people dead and dozens more injured in Bastrop County, CBS Austin reported.
According to the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office, Highway 21 near the Caldwell-Bastrop county line is “shut down due to a multiple fatality accident involving a school bus.”
The Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services confirmed it responded to the scene to provide assistance near the Highway 21 intersection with Caldwell Road.
EMS helicopters airlifted four patients to the hospital, and multiple others were transported to hospitals in vehicles.
In a statement sent to CBS Austin, the Hays CISD confirmed the school bus was carrying 44 pre-K students and 11 adults from Tom Green Elementary School who were returning from a field trip to the Bastrop Zoo.
