Another night and day of heavy rain exacerbates flooding across our eastern counties

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Another wild night/morning where many across the areas saw well over 3 inches, especially across our eastern counties (again). Residual flooding is likely, especially over areas where creeks/rivers that are running over roadways are yet to crest. Largely, we expect improvement by Saturday, assuming we don’t have much additional rainfall. For a lot of us, that shouldn’t be a problem, but we’ll still be looking at some scattered rain and maybe a couple thunderstorms still to go before we reach the weekend.

Lovely little evening out there! We’ll look for more of the same the next several evenings, but we’re not done with our rain (and thus, flooding) potential just yet. pic.twitter.com/ecu2eVuGC1

The rain chance comes from two different sources – each afternoon, some scattered downpours could develop thanks to daytime heating, then each overnight/morning, it’s a watch-wait-and-see game with expected strong storms to our west to see if they can hold together to reach us by daybreak.

At the moment, models are having a hard time picking which specific days those are most likely. In this pattern, it’s better to just prepare for rain at the start and finish of the day (in a much less widespread fashion) and hope for plenty of dry spots throughout the weekend.

As Weatherwatcher rainfall totals continue to be tabulated, we will post them below shortly.
