Aggie fans share excitement over final college World Series match up
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) -For the final game in the College World Series, Texas A&M fans packed bars and restaurants in the area to watch the game.
There were plenty of options for fans, especially along the Northgate Area. The Backyard was full of people for a watch party on its big screen and The Dixie Chicken within a few steps of it had people pouring in to watch the game on their TVs.
“Why the Dixie Chicken well it’s just one of those legendary places that if you ever come down to College Station you have to be at the chicken. and I feel like some of the most passionate fans come here and that’s just the atmosphere you want to be in. I can’t physically be there in Omaha but I think I can get to that,” said Chazzy Stateler who was there watching the game with his friends.
Right before the game got underway Aggie Baseball fan Chuck Morris said it was a once-in-a-lifetime thing. He and his son made a pit stop at The Dixie Chicken on their way back to Houston from Omaha to enjoy the game.
“In my lifetime we hadn’t really played for a national championship in any of the three major men’s sports so that’s why we are here that’s why we came to the chicken to hang out and when we win we’re going to celebrate the way we should,” Morris said.
Stateler said that when would have meant “absolutely everything.”
“There’s Aggies who have gone their entire lives without seeing them, people have been waiting for decades so I feel like this means everything for everywhere across the world so it’s just pretty big it’s bigger than sports,” Stateler said.
