A Bryan Biergarten is closing it’s doors temporarily until it opens a new location nearby.
BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – A popular Biergarten in Bryan is closing its doors for a little while until it opens in a new location nearby.
This is the last weekend for KinderHill Brew Lab to be open while owners focus on expanding.
Co-owners Laura Hill and Jason Kinderman decided to turn their dreams into a reality and open KinderHill Brew Lab. They opened the Biergarten off South Bryan Avenue and Beck Street in 2021.
“Jason and I met first when we were both working at different breweries. So we were both working in the industry, we met and we started dating and we both had dreams of opening our own brewery at some point,” said Hill.
They settled in Bryan because Hill was getting her PhD at Texas A&M and they enjoyed the area.
“We thought that this was a great community that could handle multiple more new breweries so that’s how we kind of ended up here,” said Hill.
During their time at 800 South Bryan Avenue, they’ve grown.
“Slowly we have gotten to know so many people in the community and they come out and they support us and we’ve just been so fortunate because that’s just only grown. And they tell their friends and they tell their friends and it’s just kind of slowly grown organically over time,” said Hill.
However, on rainy days, the current location isn’t ideal since most of their seating is outside, which is one reason behind opening a new location just two blocks away.
“It’s a bigger property, it’s on about 2 and a half acres, so we’ll have more outdoor opportunity, we’ll have a new parking lot and it’s also got a bigger building, so a large warehouse that we can expand brewing operations and have more indoor seating,” said Hill. “That gives us more flexibility to still be open and have a nice comfortable space with everybody.”
The owners told KBTX the reason behind their move is so that they can own their own space and provide an indoor bar as well as more indoor seating opportunities.
”Just for our long-term growth and continuing to be able to thrive in this community, we wanted to own our property. The new property we purchased, so we’re doing a lot of construction to get it up to where it needs to be in order to re-open, and also we just need more production space, more seating space,” said Hill.
A community favorite popup, The Wild Garlic Pizza, has had its pop-up location at 800 South Bryan Avenue for a while.
Owner, Tanner Purdum, says they are thrilled to move with KinderHill to their new location and will expand into their own restaurant.
“It’s going to be a full-fledged pizzeria inside, we’re going to have inside seating, and it’s going to be an actual restaurant. Our staff is excited to no longer be working outside and we’ll be able to expand the menu, bring on new things, and we’re also going to open up a bakery inside in the mornings,” said Purdum.
Hill said while there is no set timeline, they are hoping to open their new spot on West 31st Street in the fall.
