Arts Council of Brazos Valley is ready to play ball

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – The Arts Council of Brazos Valley is raising money to benefit the community’s art and culture with its “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” event.

The Celebrate the Arts 2024 chair, Pam Smits, joined First News at Four on Monday and said the event will help support community projects.

“We support over 45 different art organizations with funding and support, and then we have children’s programs and we do A.R.T. For Life. That’s one of my favorite ones, and so these funds help provide programming,” Smits said.

Smits also mentioned how this year will be different, and a more casual affair than that of the past.

“It’s a lot more casual from the standpoint of what they can wear, so you can wear cocktail attire. But if you want to support your team, you certainly can. But all these funds go back into the programs, and we also have scholarship opportunities to provide art scholarships for seniors,” added Smits.

The raffle includes two $3,000 shopping sprees at David Gardner’s Jewelers.

The event is at The Brazos Center on September 5 at 6 p.m. Follow this link to learn more.
