Class of 2028 cadets march for the first time at Fish Review
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – It was an exciting day for the newest members of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets as they marched at Fish Review.
The morning began at the Quad with step-off. Cadets then marched to Simpson Drill Field for Fish Review.
On the field, the new cadets promised they are committed to the discipline of being in the Corps of Cadets.
The Corps Commander, Deandre Macri, says this is an exciting time for the new member class.
“This right here shows that they are part of the Corps, the heartbeat of the university and that they are committed to the discipline that’s going to come through,” said Macri.
Fish Review takes place after a week of training for the cadets.
“It’s really nice to see all the fish finally be a part of the core. They finally get to do their first march in with all of their outfits and half of their upperclassmen and so it’s kind of their first Aggie Corps experience as I like to call it,” said Aurora Villarreal, Corps of Cadets Public Relations Officer.
The Corps of Cadets is also getting new leadership on Monday after President General Mark Welsh III named retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Gen. Loyd S. “Chip” Utterback as interim commandant.
Utterback will serve as interim commandant once the current commandant, Brigadier General Patrick R. Michaelis, begins his new role as the special assistant to Texas A&M President General Mark Welsh III.
