Bell County Fire Marshal concludes investigation into fire at Stillhouse Lake Marina

BELTON, Texas (KWTX) – The Bell County Fire Marshal says they’ve finished their investigation into last week’s structure fire at the Stillhouse Lake Marina.

The Fire Marshal says the cause of the fire was determined to have been the result of an accident.

At around 7:15 a.m. on Aug. 7, firefighters were sent to the Stillhouse Lake Marina on reports that a boat fire was threatening the structure.

Once firefighters arrived on scene, they confirmed the fire had reached the structure.

Multiple agencies responded to help get the fire under control with a “swift response and aggressive fire attack,” officials said.

According to the Fire Marshal, a man was on his 24-foot boat in the water near the Marina dock when a fire/explosion happened.

The man suffered serious burns to his body and jumped from the boat before swimming to the dock for help, the Fire Marshal says.

The Fire Marshal says man’s boat continued to move toward the Marina while still on fire, eventually colliding with the structure.

The collision caused a secondary fire and the damages to the Marina, according to the Fire Marshal.

No additional injuries were reported from the scene and no other boats were reported damaged from the fire.
