Man fires several rounds at Lacy Lakeview officers from inside a residence, arrest warrant states
LACY LAKEVIEW, Texas (KWTX) – Marcus Mahoney, 44, is charged with three counts of aggravated assault against a public servant after he fired several rounds at Lacy Lakeview police officers the night of Aug. 12, an arrest warrant states.
It happened at about 6:15 p.m. when three police officers were dispatched to 603 Norma Drive to investigate a domestic disturbance call, police said.
When police arrived, they spoke with Mahoney and his brother because the woman who initially called for help was no longer at the residence. The officers determined the altercation at the residence was verbal in nature.
Mahoney, however, was “extremely irate with officers on scene,” the arrest warrant states. Police said Mahoney walked into the residence and later approached the doorway carrying a 9mm handgun.
One of the officers yelled “gun!” and Mahoney fired multiple rounds from the interior of the residence, police said.
The officers immediately took cover behind parked vehicles while backup arrived. Mahoney then retreated further into the residence and police declared a “barricaded subject.” Mahoney, the arrest warrant states, fired more rounds from inside the residence.
He would later surrender by walking out of the home with his hands exposed, but “refused orders to lay down on the ground,” the warrant states.
The officers were forced to deploy a “non-lethal” 40mm round that struck Mahoney in the left thigh area, “at which point Marcus complied with officer orders,” police said.
Mahoney is being held on bonds totaling $300,000.
