Tropical Storm Ernesto forms in the Atlantic
BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Tropical Storm Erneto has formed roughly 300 miles east of the island of Antigua in the Lesser Antilles.
Tropical storm conditions are expected across the northern Leeward Islands through midweek, with a landfall for Puerto Rico possible.
Heavy rain is likely to be the main impact through midweek, but strengthening is forecast to a hurricane as it moves back into open waters by Thursday.
The good news, however, is as this storm potentially strengthens to a hurricane, we are expecting it to curve away from the Lower 48 of the US thanks to the jetstream.
From there, we monitor potential impacts to Bermuda.
