College Station police arrest pro boxer for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – College Station police arrested a professional boxer from Galveston County for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon in connection to a sexual assault report Thursday.
According to court documents, police responded to a report of a sexual assault at a College Station emergency care center Thursday morning. Police noted the victim had torn clothes, no shoes, and visible injuries to her face, head, and body.
The survivor told police she met the assault suspect, who identified himself as a professional boxer, at a Northgate District bar late Wednesday night. She said she refused the advances of the boxer, which angered him.
Court documents detail that when the survivor resisted the man, he began to punch her repeatedly. This assault lasted 30 minutes to an hour, according to police.
The survivor was eventually able to escape and took the suspect’s phone on her way. She continued to walk until she made it to an emergency room.
Police were able to positively identify the owner of the phone, along with her description, as belonging to 30-year-old Evan Garcia of League. CSPD made contact with Garcia and noted skin missing from his knuckles as well as offensive wounds on his neck and arms.
Garcia reportedly consented to a search of his vehicle where an investigator discovered the victim’s shoes and THC oil.
Evan Garcia was arrested and booked into the Brazos County Jail on two charges. He was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly weapon due to him being a professional boxer, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
He is being held on bonds totaling $47,000.
