Bryan ISD kicks off school year with annual convocation

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Dozens of staff and administrators from Bryan ISD kicked off the school year Friday with its annual convocation.

Everyone packed Central Baptist Church for the event which featured speakers, performances, and more. This event serves as a pep rally to get everyone excited for the new year.

Bryan High School (BHS) senior Christian Eddington, who sang the national anthem for the event, said he believes “it’s very beneficial for the faculty”

“I feel like it brings them back to the old days when the pep rally were there and it brings them a joyful feeling,” said Christian.

Several teachers were recognized for their work during the convocation and given a chance to speak with their peers.

“It sets the tone for the school year,” Josh Woodall, Assistant Athletics Director, added. “The superintendent, the school board president; they get up and speak. They set the tone for what we’re gonna be doing.”
