Richards ISD coach dies during volleyball practice
RICHARDS, Texas (KBTX) – Richards ISD announced the passing of Coach John Carlisle this week.
According to a statement from the district, Coach Carlisle passed away during volleyball practice on Thursday.
“Despite immediate resuscitation efforts by members of our staff, we tragically lost a new member of our community,” the statement reads in part.
Students were escorted out of the area, per the statement, so that first responders could easily enter the building.
The district said it is working with Coach Carlisle’s family to support them through this loss. For staff and students, counseling and support services will be available.
Arrangements for Coach John Carlisle’s memorial service have not yet been announced. KBTX will update this article with those details as they are made available.
The statement from Richards ISD added, “On behalf of the entire District, we extend our deepest condolences to Coach Carlisle’s family, friends, students, and players. He will be profoundly missed.”
