College Station arrests highlight previous mail theft record

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – The arrest of two people in College Station is highlighting their long history of crime from Houston. Documents show this pair is back behind bars, in Brazos County this time. For at least the second time the arrest is connected to mail theft.

Just days later, the Harris County Constable Precinct 4 Office reported a break in the case. Officers responding to a public disturbance found Hill and Polanco in an unrelated altercation.

At the same time, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service says it was conducting surveillance at the hotel the pair were staying at. The USPIS investigation coincided with the constable’s office arresting the pair.

Investigators located drugs, counterfeit keys, stolen mail, bank cards and checks. It’s unclear when they paid bond on the January charges for theft. KBTX has reached out to the Harris County Jail for records.

During this incident, Houston news outlets reported the U.S. Postal Inspection Service said it was going to pursue federal charges for the January bust. When KBTX asked about this quote on Thursday, officials told us they filed charges with the state.

Nine months later another community report, this time to College Station Police, led officers to Hill and Polanco. Monday, officers discovered hundreds of pieces of stolen mail in the couple’s vehicle along with drugs and bank cards.

Prior reporting and releases from agencies show this is Hill’s third time being arrested for theft and drug possession. Hill and Polanco remain in the Brazos County Jail on charges from Brazos and Harris Counties.
