College Station ISD changes medication policy for upcoming school year

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – College Station ISD is changing its medication policy for the 2024-2025 school year.

The Texas Board of Nursing provided guidance to school nurses regarding administering medication to students.

Now, all medications, including over-the-counter, must have authorization from a physician, podiatrist or dentist, along with parent authorization, before a nurse can administer it.

This includes common items like Tylenol and Ibuprofen and is in effect for all College Station ISD campuses.
