Hurricane Debby makes landfall in Florida
BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – After strengthening to a hurricane Sunday night, Debby has made landfall near Steinhatchee in the Big Bend region of Florida.
Debby is the fourth named storm of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season after Tropical Storm Alberto, Hurricane Beryl and Tropical Storm Chris, all of which formed in June.
Per @NWSNHC on Hurricane #Debby: “the slow forward speed is likely to cause potentially historic rainfall across southeast Georgia and South Carolina, with an increasing likelihood of catastrophic flooding.” pic.twitter.com/uzLPQkmcb0

The threat shifts from wind and storm surge to catastrophic flooding in Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas by midweek, as Debby may even briefly re-emerge in the Atlantic Ocean and hurl loads of moisture onto the East Coast.
