Focus at Four: Bryan Farm Service now accepting Emergency Conservation Applications
BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – The USDA’s Farm Service Agency in Bryan says applications for the Emergency Conservation Program are now open.
The program covers Grimes, Walker, and Brazos counties.
Mandy Tabrizi, the County Executive Director of the USDA Farm Service Agency said the program is for assistance for farmers and ranchers who had damage from the recent storms in our area.
“Due to severe storms that came through during like end of April to mid-May where we just had so much going on, so much moisture, the river was flooding and so this will actually help our farmers and ranchers restore that land back to its agricultural use,” Tabrizi said.
This program is to cover the extensive damage left behind, and that might be hindering production for suppliers.
“These are the people that are supplying food and fiber for local communities as well as national. This is going to help you know to make sure that the cost of your meat doesn’t go up- your cost of clothing, anything like that, of food and fiber. Just helping your local farmer or rancher to keep their business and their operation going is a huge plus,” added Tabrizi.
