Rockdale ISD receives $5.25 million grant to renovate College & Career Academy

ROCKDALE, Texas (KBTX) – Rockdale ISD received a $5.25 million grant from The US Economic Development Administration. The money will go toward renovating the College & Career Academy.

The College & Career Academy building once operated as a hospital and will undergo extensive renovations to become a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to upper-level classes in health science, manufacturing, and technology, according to a release from Rockdale ISD.

“We are thrilled to receive this substantial grant from the Economic Development Administration,” Rockdale ISD Superintendent Dr. Denise Monzingo said in the release. “This funding allows us to take the first crucial steps towards transforming our College & Career Academy into a cutting-edge educational facility that will equip our students and community with the skills and knowledge needed for success in the 21st century workforce.”

Rockdale ISD said planning will begin immediately and renovations are expected to begin before the end of the year.
