Hobbyist-turned entrepreneur opens self-care boutique at Post Oak Mall

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – What began as a pandemic era hobby turned into a lucrative business for a local entrepreneur.

Darren Cadiz told KBTX his journey of opening Love Me Sweet Co., a self-care boutique, began in 2020. He said he simply “dabbled in soapmaking” during that time.

The idea behind Love Me Sweet Co. is to make indulging in self-care more accessible.

“Everything that you can treat yourself to is what Love Me Sweet is all about because everyone deserves self-care and self-love,” owner Darren Cadiz said.

The store carries items including handmade bath bombs, sugar scrubs, and skincare products. The entrepreneur has also collaborated with other business owners to carry jewelry, clothing, bags, and other merchandise.

After his time of dabbling in soapmaking, Cadiz had developed a small business in 2021, aptly calling it Castile Confections and selling his products at markets. After a while, he rebranded and renamed the business to Love Me Sweet Co. in 2022 and opened a studio in Shades Atelier in Bryan.

The entrepreneur said he still can’t believe he’s opening his storefront not even a year after having the studio space, “It was not easy, but I just kept believing in myself and I didn’t want to give up because I’m like, ‘I’m going to make this work, we’re going to grow.’”

Love Me Sweet Co. is located near the JC Penny entrance and across from the Bonita Brow Bar in the Post Oak Mall. The grand opening will run from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, and there will be multiple raffles, giveaways and door prizes.
