College Station police make arrest in shooting death of 17-year-old

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – The College Station Police Department has made an arrest in the deadly shooting investigation of a 17-year-old on Sunday night at The Vibe on Harvey apartment complex.

Jaylen Markel Moseley, 18, was taken into custody Wednesday following a search warrant executed at The Ivy apartments at 1301 Harvey Road.

The two apartments are a mile apart along a stretch of Harvey Road between Highway 6 and Texas Avenue.

Police did not say what led them to Moseley or a motive for the murder of Richard Elijah Hilton, but Mosely was taken into custody without incident and is being charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and his bond is set at $200,000.

Hilton was found shot by officers late Sunday night who were responding to reports of shots being fired in the area of University Oaks Boulevard and George Bush Drive. Despite attempts to save him by officers and medics, the teenager passed away at a hospital.

A spokesperson for College Station Police said the shooting appeared to be an isolated incident but no other details have been publicly shared at this time.

Management at The Vibe told KBTX Hilton was not a resident of their complex but they’re still speaking with residents about increasing safety measures and adding additional security measures to the property.
