Bryan ISD no longer allowing students to order deliveries during school day
BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – In an effort to continue keeping schools safe in the coming school years, Bryan ISD has announced it is prohibiting students from ordering food from any third-party delivery services to the school.
The school district announced this Monday in a social media post:
“As it’s grown in popularity, it’s become labor-intensive making sure the campus is safe in that aspect,” said Exec. Director of School Leadership, Brian Merrell.
Throughout the year students use Door Dash, Uber Eats, and similar services to get their favorite foods delivered to the school, and officials say there is a high volume of these deliveries every day.
The sheer volume of these deliveries have presented a problem, as Bryan ISD leaders called it, with visitors coming into the building. The district told KBTX the schools just don’t have the man power to handle it.
“They weren’t prepared for the influx of drivers coming at one. It’s just challenging to try and manage,” said Bryan ISD board of trustees president, Dr. Julie Harlin.
