Open registration begins for Brazos Valley Gives

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Nonprofit groups in the Brazos Valley can now register for Brazos Valley Gives.

The registration deadline is September 6, but any nonprofit that registers by noon Friday will be eligible for a $500 early registration prize. Nonprofits will have to pay a $150 registration fee; nonprofits with an endowment at the Community Foundation are eligible for a discounted $50 fee.

This is Brazos Valley Gives sixth year raising money for nonprofits from Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Leon, Madison, Robertson, and Washington counties. It’s an 18-hour online day of giving which will take place on October 15.

“We start at 5 a.m. with you all there with us and we go ‘til 11 o’clock that night. The actual giving portal opens a month prior to that, so if you’re not in town and you want to go ahead and give early you can,” Brazos Valley Gives 2024 co-chair Julie Porter said.

Over the past six years, Porter shared Brazos Valley Gives has raised more than $4.7 million going directly toward the nonprofit community to help their missions.

“We like to say ‘we live here, we pray here, we play here,’ and we want to give here, and all that money stays local,” encouraged Porter.

Organizers’ goal this year is to raise $1.5 million for 170 local nonprofits.

“We all love our quality of life in the Brazos Valley, and these non-profits just enhance it,” Porter added. “They’re providing critical services whether it’s with the arts, for children, or for animals, what it may be… So many of our nonprofits are very small and they don’t have paid staff, so this is how they make their money for the year.”
