Brazos Valley woman heads to Paris for historic Marathon Pour Tous

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – The Brazos Valley will be well-represented for a history-making marathon in Paris.

Noel Gomillion and Lindsey Smart with JustServe joined First News at Four to discuss Gomillion’s run in the Marathon Pour Tous, a marathon being held during the 2024 Paris Olympics.

“Before COVID I was actually couch potato, so I took up running and got plugged into the running community. I found out about a marathon that was being held during the Paris Olympics, where average people could actually go and run the same route that the Olympians were running for the marathon. I totally wanted to be a part of that. So, I competed in their challenges and finally, I got the e-mail that said I’d won a bid, and it was like Willy Wonka Golden ticket,” described Gomillion.

The day of the marathon is a special one for Gomillion.

“August 10th is actually four years to the day that I started running,” Gomillion beamed.

Smart said JustServe, the organization representing Gomillion during her run, is something to bring communities and people together through volunteer work.

“You can go on our website and you can put in a ZIP code and a radius, and it will pop up all of the opportunities that are in your area. So, you don’t have to go to each organization to go around the community searching for opportunities. They’re all just listed. You can read about them and decide if they fit your schedule and then go do something and unite and help each other,” said Smart.

The marathon will be held on August 10, 2024.

The Marathon Pour Tous is on the historic route of the Women’s March on Versailles during the French Revolution.
