Even without Trump’s attendance, Burleson County Republican Party gears up for MAGA rally with local leaders
CALDWELL, Texas (KBTX) – The Burleson County Republican Party plans to hold a MAGA rally next Thursday, featuring local and state party officials.
Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller and state representative Stan Gerdes are both confirmed as special guests for the rally.
Former President Donald Trump will not be in attendance, contrary to what was previously reported by another news source based out of Waco. Party chair Karen Bolt told KBTX she saw their local rally as a way to expose voters to local and state leaders, names that may not be as familiar.
“We’ve got several local officials that are on this ballot, our state, our constables, our commissioners. It’s very important for us as local people to get out and vote for the local races,” Bolt said.
As the rally takes shape, a few local businesses have been tapped as vendors, excited to share what they sell. One of those is Nono Rose Western Wear. This shop said it could barely keep its Trump-themed merchandise in stock.
Owner of Nono Rose, Kayla Johnson, said she hopes the rally brings a boost not just to her business, but to the community as a whole.
“We have tons of cute shops in town and I just hope that it puts us more locally on the map,” shared Johnson.
As the November presidential election inches closer, Bolt said she also anticipates the rally helping encourage the community to vote.
“It’s our county coming together as one to unify around the presidential candidate,” Bolt insisted.
Although Bolt said there was disappointment that the former president and current candidate wouldn’t be in attendance in Burleson County, she expressed excitement in bringing the spirit of larger rallies to the small town.
”I’m hoping that when we hold this rally to support President Trump that Sid Miller will maybe take a picture of it or somehow film it and send it to President Trump,” added Bolt.
The Burleson County Republican Party’s MAGA rally will take place between 7 and 9 p.m. on Thursday, August 1 at the Burleson County Expo Center in Caldwell.
