Framed ‘Fight!’ photo with Trump’s signature fetches $40K at Waco GoodFellas auction
WACO, Texas (KWTX) – An auction item including an autograph from Donald Trump framed alongside an iconic picture of a defiant Republican presidential candidate after the July 13 assassination attempt fetched $40,000 in a weekend fundraiser for a local nonprofit that helps area families in need.
The Waco GoodFellas, a nonprofit that primarily helps provide Christmas for struggling families, said Saturday’s Christmas in July fundraiser at The BASE at the Extraco Events Center in Waco was the most successful to date.
Buck Alambar is a longtime member and while they don’t know exactly the amount raised Saturday, yet, they do know it beat previous records by raising more than $200,000.
“We broke records in table sales and earnings this year I would like to thank each and every one of y’all for being there,” Alambar said. “This was a very special special event.’
The Trump framed photograph and autograph was sold to Dave Jessup, who owns Jessup Housing. It also included a custom Trump AR-15 rifle donated by local State Representative Pat Curry. Three years ago, Jessup Housing donated a new mobile home to a family in need at a Waco Goodfellas Christmas in July event.
A framed photo of a defiant Trump in the wake of an attempt on his life fetched $40K at a local auction to benefit deserving families during the Christmas season. The item also includes Trump’s signature and a Trump-inspired AR-15 rifle.
“Here is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own an authentic autographed image of Trump standing up, surrounded by secret service yelling, “Fight! Fight! Fight,” the program read.
Organizers tell KWTX they had more than one bidder willing to pay over $40,000 for the piece of history, but only sold one.
The auction item was just one of many high-dollar items on the auction block which also included a women’s Rolex by Boozer’s Jewelers, a Trophy Axis Deer Hunt donated by Texas Hunting Resources and a Cabo vacation donated by Allen Samuels House of Travel.
Alambar said title sponsors Jeff Hunter Toyota and Lonestar Truck Group helped lead the way, but hundreds of individuals and businesses also came out to support the worthwhile cause.
“We would like to thank each and every person who attended,” he said.
“I wish everybody could see the looks on these kids’ faces when we make a positive difference for them at Christmas time.”
The Waco GoodFellas will be helping the Waco Police Department with its 4th Annual Back to School Bash on July 27 at the Doris Miller Community Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. They’ll be giving away clear backpacks, haircuts, immunizations and school supplies.
In addition to providing Christmas wishes for hundreds of area families in December, the nonprofit has also helped provide laptops to Waco ISD students and given clothes to families in need. They’ve helped with home repairs, appliances and shelter for numerous families.
