Congressman Michael McCaul discusses RNC, presidential race
BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – On Thursday ahead of former President Donald Trump’s acceptance speech at the Republic National Convention, Congressman Michael McCaul, who represents the Brazos Valley, spoke to KBTX.
McCaul told KBTX that this RNC was probably the most unified that he has ever been to.
“I was there in 2016. The party was not unified, it was divided. All his opponents came out in favor of supporting him and I think what happened, tragic events of last Saturday, has really rallied all the delegates here at the convention. There’s a lot of energy and excitement,” McCaul said.
When asked if President Joe Biden should drop out of the race after several people had come forward suggesting he should step aside, McCaul said that would be up to him and the Democratic Party.
“I am hearing fairly reliable sources tell me that he will be stepping down possibly as soon as three days from now, but certainly if that’s going to happen, it needs to happen before their convention,” McCaul said.
The Democratic National Convention will be held on August 19 in Chicago.
