Acting Gov, Dan Patrick tours TEDM facility, discusses power grid concerns and disaster response

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Acting Gov. Dan Patrick and elected officials met Tuesday to tour the Texas Division of Emergency Management facility on the Rellis campus.

During the tour, Patrick hit on several key topics including disaster response and the state power grid.

“We must have more power, green energy is fine to keep the cost down and keep the air clean but you can not build a state on the back of windmills and solar,” said Patrick.

He added that data centers, crypto mining, artificial intelligence, and growth in the state are using more of the power.

The acting governor praised the facility saying there needs to be others added to different parts of the state.

“This gives me ideas for the next legislative session because the truth is we need more of these in Texas,” he said.
