Business, nonprofit leaders partnering for 2nd annual back-to-school bash
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – The Kingdom Barber Studio, Kingdom Outreach and Dirt Road Rustics teams want to give kids and families a positive start to the upcoming school year.
They’re coming together to host the 2nd Annual Back-to-School Blessings Bash August 10.
It’ll be held at the barber studio, 4413A South. Texas Avenue in Bryan, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Zeus Munoz, the owner of the Kingdom Barber Studio, started the bash in 2023, the same year he opened his business.
“We did over 80 haircuts, I believe, boys and girls, and we were able to give out lots of school supplies,” Munoz said.
That same year, he partnered with Samantha Gonzalez, the founder of Kingdom Outreach, to give families hope through prayer.
“Sometimes it’s more than just backpacks and school supplies and clothes and shoes,” Gonzalez said. “Sometimes they’re battling health conditions like I said, depression or something to that nature, and we don’t want them to be unseen or unheard.”
This mission also inspired the owners of Dirt Road Rustics, Veronica Fly and Cheyenne Castilleja, to be a part of the event.
“We just want to help all the underserved families in our community, and we know that we have, like Cheyenne was saying, a great customer base that loves to reach out and help the community,” Fly said.
The group is asking for supplies like pencils, pens, paper, rules and backpacks.
The backpacks will be distributed to kids who live in the Southgate Village Apartments, and the supplies will go to the kids who attend the bash.
Supplies can be dropped of to the Kingdom Barber Studio or Dirt Road Rustics, which is located at 12669 SH 30 in College Station.
Items can also be purchased through the store’s Amazon Wishlist.
The deadline to donate is August 4.
