The city is hosting its 5th Annual Freedom Festival.

“This is one of our favorite events of the year,” city marketing & communication manager Taylor Hughes said.” We’re small town. We’re small town USA, so we’re excited about that and we just love everyone participating and showing support to Navasota and showing their patriotic freedom.”

It kicks off at 6 p.m. and will start on Brosig Avenue and will travel down Washington Avenue to 9th Street.

If you would like to participate, the lineup will start on Brosig Avenue at 5 p.m.

It’s free and registration isn’t required.

Following the parade, festivities will continue at city hall.

There will be live music from the Escape Houston Journey Tribute band along with kids’ activities and a cornhole tournament for adults. It’s $10 to participate.

“Bring your coolers and bring your lawn chair. Come out and enjoy,” Navasota mayor Bert Miller said.

In addition, there will be food and drinks from businesses like The Wildflyer Mead Company. The team will have a variety of meads on tap.

The roads in front of city hall will be closed for the event. That includes East McAlpine and Farquhar Street.
