Aggieland Humane Society Hosting free microchip event
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – More pets go missing on July 4 than any other night of the year.
On Wednesday, June 6 pet owners can have more peace of mind and get their furry friends microchipped for free.
“Having this means if your pet gets out and is lost or stolen we have a way to get them back to you,” said the executive director of Aggieland Humane Society, Katrina Ross.
A microchip is a small, electronic chip enclosed in a glass cylinder that is about the size as a grain of rice.
“It is a quick and painless procedure for the pet, said Ross. “Realistically it takes longer to fill out the paperwork so we have the information, than to do the implant,” she added.
The event will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 2201 Rio Grand Blvd. in College Station.
“We will have our big mobile adoption and transport unit so you can’t miss it, and we have lots of professionals out there with us” added Ross.
