Cool down for a cause at the 13th annual Hog Splash

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Summer has turned the heat up, and what better way to cool down than to participate in the Hospice Brazos Valley Hog Splash?

Amy Cabrera and Cindy Emola joined First News at Four to discuss the 13th annual fundraiser.

Emola said that the fundraiser benefits Hospice Brazos Valley, a nonprofit organization, and relies on events like these to continue helping people.

“All the money stays local, which is very important to a lot of people. And we cover 17 counties. And so the money that is raised by this goes and stays in the local area,” she said.

Emola said you don’t have to be a business to participate in this event.

“You can be a private group that wants to get eight to 10 people and get your game, get your team together and really have a good time. It’s a bracket-style tournament, so it’ll go down all the way to the end. And the winner? We never know who it’s going to be,” she said.

There will be food vendors there as well, including pizza, barbecue and snow cones.

The 13th annual Hog Splash takes place on Aug. 24 at 9 a.m.
