First full week of summer will feel a lot like… summer
BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – We have seen some heat already this year, and we have had a couple small dry spells, but we haven’t seen a stretch this hot and this dry so far.
It’s not the hottest weather we’ve seen in June (or will see this summer) but this is the hottest, driest stretch of weather we have seen so far this year.
High pressure will wobble back and forth between Texas and New Mexico early this week, then likely plop itself right back over the Lone Star State, putting a lid on the atmosphere and keeping things dry other than a couple lonely, pop-up showers and storms. This “sinking” air mass will also allow us to heat up quickly each day.
It’s not the hottest weather we’ve seen in June (or will see this summer) but this is the hottest, driest stretch of weather we have seen so far this year.
Afternoon high temperatures are set to climb into the mid/upper 90s all through this week, and likely into next. While temperatures are a bit above average, we are actually on a cooler trend than how June of LAST summer was, where we had already tallied several triple digit days by this point.
Even still, make sure you and yours are taking precautions to protect from the heat this week. Take PLENTY of breaks if you have to be outdoors, and always have drinking water nearby. A couple isolated showers and storms are possible through the first few days of this week, but we may have to wait until the end of the month, or even July before more widespread rain returns.
