Focus at Four: College Station Utilities talks high summer prices

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – With summer here, so is the heat. And it’s expected to be one of the hottest summers on record across the country.

With that comes an increased energy usage.

Ethan Falcon, the energy programs advisor with College Station Utilities, joined First News at Four on Friday to discuss ways to lower your bill during the summer months.

“The biggest advice I have for everyone today is to make sure that your AC systems have been serviced and they’re ready for the summer season,” said Falcon.

This includes, having your filter replaced regularly, making sure the coil is clean on your system, and turning your AC down when you’re out of the house.

There is a rebate program that Falcon said is meant to help customers as the temperatures rise.

“If you’re a College Station Utility customer, you’re eligible for a $30 rebate, that’ll be a credit on your utility bill. All you have to do is purchase a smart thermostat, which is controlled through the Internet through an app on your phone. That way if you forget to adjust it when you leave for work, it’ll automatically do that for you and then it really just kind of set it and forget it situation,” Falcon said.
