Aggieland Outfitters sees surplus of Summer Hunger Food Drive donations

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – KBTX teamed up with the Brazos Valley Food Bank for the month of June to help eliminate summer hunger. Aggieland Outfitters is partnering with KBTX as a donation site. At the retail store, customers can either purchase one of its $12 canned food donations or drop off food items at any of its three locations.

Blake Bodin, the Director of Marketing for Aggieland Outfitters, said they’ve received more donations this year than last.

“I think it’s important to participate in the Summer Hunger campaign throughout the Brazos Valley just due to the fact of hearing how many people are hungry each night. Now, there’s an opportunity where those families can come in and actually have a warm meal,” said Bodin.

When schools let out for the summer, many children around the Brazos Valley don’t know where their next meal is coming from. Bodin said it’s been nice seeing all the donations come in.

“Seeing how many people come through the stores and either purchase one of the $12 canned food items or drop off food at any other locations is kinda just reassuring that no family should go hungry,” said Bodin

The other four locations participating in the food drive are George’s Paint & Body, Paradowski Law, Producers Cooperative, and Douglass Auto Group. All five sponsors will be accepting donations for the rest of June.

When collecting items, keep in mind that healthy minds and bodies need nutritious food to thrive. Check out the suggested shopping list for the Summer Hunger Food Drive.
