Four hour weather delay doesn’t deter A&M fans in Omaha
OMAHA, Nebraska (KBTX) – It was a late finish for the Texas A&M baseball team Sunday night.
The Aggies edged Florida 3-2 in their opening game at the College World Series. The game wrapped just after 1:00 a.m.
The contest was suppose to start at 6:00 p.m. but due to severe weather it didn’t start until 10:15 p.m.
The delay didn’t stop the 12th Man from coming back to the stadium after dark.
A variety of fans told News 3 that they spent the delay resting in their cars or getting more food and drinks from surrounding businesses.
A group of friends from the Brazos Valley made the trek to Omaha and we’re going to miss out on the first game of the tournament.
“We drove in a camper, and we left on Tuesday and got here on Thursday,” Viki Coumbe, of College Station said. “During the rain delay we sat in our car and had a lot of discussions about the rain delay.”
“We love baseball,” Missy Ewers of College Station said. “We’ve been to all the games in College Station, so we decided we we’re going to make the trip here to the World Series if we made it here. That was our 50th anniversary present to each other, so we’re here as long as the Aggies are here.”
Texas A&M advanced to play Kentucky Monday night at 6:00 p.m. in the winners bracket.
