Thousands flock to see the King of Country at Kyle Field
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – They say football is king in Texas until the King of Country rolls into town.
“We actually heard rumor of it for about 3 or 4 weeks and went ahead and booked rooms ahead of time and then when they made it official, everything kind of took off from there,” Tim Broadway from Anahuac said. ”We were coming. Plain and simple.”
“[This is a] once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for sure,” Tiffanie Reina said. She and her family from Sugar Land wouldn’t miss this event. “We’re season ticket holders. So we got, we actually are suite holders, so we have our suite along with twenty other tickets.”
Typically Kyle Field is a venue reserved for football on Fall Saturdays, and only a handful of musical artists can create the same kind of scene and fanfare of a Texas A&M football game at the iconic football stadium.
George Strait is no stranger to playing sold-out stadiums. He played in front of more than 104,000 people at AT&T Stadium in June 2014. Texas A&M hopes to break that record with more than 110,000 tickets available.
“I think the more recognition you bring to A&M and enjoy the great facilities that we have to make known, it’s great for the university, the city and everyone involved,” Reina said.
