What to know before George Strait concert

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – The countdown is on for one of the most highly-anticipated events.

George Strait will hit the stage at Kyle Field Saturday along with Parker McCollum and Catie Offerman.

Although it’ll feel like a gameday, it won’t flow that way, according to Kindra Fry. She’s Texas A&M’s assistant athletic director for special event services.

Fry joined BVTM Friday to share what concertgoers need to know.

First, magnetometers will be in place around the perimeter fencing to ensure a smooth entrance into the stadium.

“We’re still using the clear bag policy but keep everything in your pockets and just walk right through,” Fry said. “Should it get stopped or stop you or anything like that, we’ll take care of things from there.”

Doors will open at 4 p.m. Fry said that should give attendees enough time to find their seats and shop for merchandise.

In addition, there will be opening tailgating in Aggie Park and around Reed Arena. There will also be a fan zone around Kyle Field, according to Fry.

The assistant athletic director said heavy traffic should be expected so securing parking will be important.

For those who haven’t secured a ticket, some of still available but are almost sold out.

Parker McCollum made a stop to Century Square’s Lucchese Friday and ahead of Saturday’s show.

He performed two songs and signed the script hats a part of his Lucchese x Parker McCollum Collection.

His white hats are being sold exclusively at the College Station location. They’ll be there as long as supplies last.

Part of the proceeds from hat sales will go towards McCollum’s charity, The Ruger Foundation.

“We’re so excited just to welcome the Brazos Valley in to come in and celebrate with us,” Lucchese representative Fallon Appleton said.

McCollum is excited to see more of his fans Saturday. He said the opportunity came from a 2022 tweet.

It stated, “I might or might not have just added ‘Play a show at Kyle Field’ to my list of goals.”

“It’s crazy how it’s worked out,” McCollum said. “To know that we’re gonna walk on stage tomorrow night at Kyle Field for the first concert there ever is incredible.”
