United Way of the Brazos Valley needs volunteers for their Day of Action

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Next week, volunteers with the United Way of the Brazos Valley will come together to assemble Baby Bundles, promoting early literacy in the community.

Kat Gammon and Jennifer Heath with United Way joined First News at Four Thursday to share more about their ‘Day of Action.’

Gammon says the bundles are filled with many different things babies and parents might need.

“A baby bundle is a tote that contains a tactile toy, a board book for babies and resources for parents about what’s available in the Brazos Valley, and information about like developmental milestones and reading to your children,” explained Gammon.

They’re looking for volunteers to join in on the assembly process. There is a schedule to sign up for different shifts on the Day of Action.

“We’re going to have three shifts for volunteering, and the first shift is going to be set-up, which is 8:15 to 9:15. Then from 10:15, that’s when we’re gonna actually assemble the baby bundles and then tear down and taking the baby bundles over to our storage will be from 11:00 to noon. If you want to sign up, you can go to our website,” said Heath.

The Day of Action will be held on Thursday, June 20.
