Applications available for Brazos Valley Symphony Ambassadors program

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – The Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra is re-branding its Symphony Belles program.

It’s now called Brazos Valley Symphony Ambassadors and is expanding to include young men and women in 10th through 12th grades.

As a three-year service-oriented program, the goal of the Symphony Ambassadors is to provide opportunities for young men and women to enhance their social skills, to be exposed to and support the Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra and its patrons, and to practice communication skills.

With the support of the Friends Association of the Symphony Orchestra, membership is open to high school students attending a public, private, or home high school in the Brazos Valley.

Coordinators say the commitment is not overwhelming as the group typically meets once a month, and most of the volunteer opportunities and seminars are held on Sunday afternoons in a variety of venues around town.

Yearly Ambassador responsibilities include serving as an usher at least four concerts and completing service hours.

Senior Ambassadors with two years of Ambassador service are eligible to compete for one of five different scholarships.

There is a $75 program fee and applications are online. You can learn more about Brazos Valley Symphony Ambassadors here.
