Grimes County breaks ground on Justice Center Annex

ANDERSON, Texas (KBTX) – Two years after moving into the newly built Justice Center, Grimes County is celebrating the groundbreaking of the Justice Center Annex.

Wednesday morning Grimes County officials and MBC Management broke ground on the annex located behind the Justice Center. Officials say the new addition will be used to make room for several expanding departments.

“Grimes County is growing,” County Judge Joe Fauth said. “We’re planning for the future and the building we break ground on today is going to be taking care of the needs of we think up to fifty years for the next period of growth for Grimes County.”

The new building will include new offices and courtrooms to give departments more space to conduct official business.

“There are no loans and no bonds that have been required for this,” Fauth said. “We are using our fund balance as well as our remaining ARPA fund so the project is paid for before we start.”

The Navasota-based company, MBC Management was contracted to construct the new project for the county and construction is set to begin immediately.

“There’s been a lot of hard work put up to this point,” Preconstruction manager Jacob Malek said. “Today is very exciting because we finally reached a point where all contracts are executed and we are ready to break ground and get started on this project.”

MBC Management says the annex will take a year to construct and is scheduled to be complete in June 2025.
